October was another busy month for the St. Mary’s Community Church family!

In addition to our usual annual Great Event Banquet, we had a church reunion, celebrated “Old Fashion Day,” and traveled down to Avon Park for dinner at the charming Hotel Jacaranda.

The Great Event was again a smash as attendees dined off a Beef Parmesan dinner prepared by St. Mary’s premiere chef, Pastor Knighten. As usual, the dinning room, which was lavishly decorated by the women of St. Mary’s, was ablaze with activities and conversation throughout the evening.

The church reunion, held the Sunday following the Great Event, saw former members and friends back at St. Mary’s, greeting and hugging each other as memories of by gone days were relived. They shared stories, laughed and gave God the credit for their prosperous lives as they enjoyed the fellowship and presence of long held friendships.

The previous Sunday, St. Mary’s held its annual “Old Fashion Day,” and members came dressed for the occasion. Pastor Knighten was a very convincing “Rick James.” as Sis. Betty Goodwine, Sis. Dorothy Bradley, and Mother Sarah Governor looked as if they were still living in the pioneering days.

Several members of St. Mary’s Community Church journeyed to Avon Park for a scrumptious dinner at the picturesque Jacaranda Hotel. The Jacaranda is an old world hotel built in the 1920’s that features a renown restaurant. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and created quite a beautiful setting and atmosphere for a wonderful dinning experience.
