During the month of July, St. Mary’s Community Church celebrated its pastor’s (Rev. Timothy S. Knighten, Sr.) 30th anniversary.  The monthlong celebration ended on July 2 with a special celebratory program after the evening service conducted by Rev. Dr. Robert Townes and his congregation from St. John Primitive Baptist Church of Medulla, Florida.

The program included a “celebration walk” by the pastor and first lady escorted by Sis. Dorothy Bradley and Deacon Luke Governor, two short readings dedicated to Pastor Timothy Knighting by Mother Sarah Governor and Bro. Augustus Traylor. There were words of appreciation expressed by members and friends of St. Mary’s Community Church, and a beautifully rendered solo by Sis. Ella Rose Davis, followed by gifts and a special presentation by the women of the church.

SMCC members and friends, and the community, feel extremely blessed to have had, and to continue to have as our pastor, Rev. Timothy S. Knighten, Sr., and at his side, First Lady Pamela Knighten.

St. Mary’s Community Church held, for the first time, a free wrestling camp. This camp was held in the church’s annex for several weeks during the summer school vacation and was free to all children. The camp was conducted by Coach Timothy Knighten and assisted by Coach Houston (both are coaches at Plant City High School) and included, during the last week of camp, a clinic conducted by Cody Chaney, a formal state champion who wrestled at Plant City High School and is now an assistant coach at his alma mater, Emmanuel College in Boston Massachusetts. Plans are for this wrestling camp to become an annual event at St. Mary’s.

Rance Allen, coming to St. Mary’s Community Church September 21st and 22nd.
