As busy as September was, October promises to be even busier as St. Mary’s continue its community outreach programs.
During the month of September, two of the many events at SMCC were the Women’s Conference and Dual Day.
On September 17th, the women had an awe inspiring conference with Betty Green as the Mistress of Ceremony and featuring Pastor Katrina Lunsford as the keynote speaker.
On Dual Day, the women battled the men by holding sway over the morning services with Rev. Timothy Knighten and the SMCC’s Praise Team setting the tone, and a heart rendering solo by Mrs. Chavonda Barnes, followed by an electrifying sermon delivered by Evangelist Yvonne Stephen.
The men countered in the afternoon, again with Rev. Timothy Knighten and the St. Mary’s Praise Team offering up several rousing selections, followed by a God inspired sermon by Rev. Jasper Jackson.
October began with St. Mary’s Community Church visiting St. John Primitive Baptist Church in Medulla Florida to help them celebrate their Pastor’s anniversary.
SMCC’s annual Great Event Banquet will be on Saturday, October 22nd, and as always, this is St. Mary’s premiere event and our major fundraiser for the year. Tickets can be purchased from any SMCC member.
On October 29th, St. Mary’s Community Church will host its first “Plant City Housing Fair,” a community service that will provide resources and information about housing and social services within our community, including credit counseling, homebuyer training classes, and other related services. Participates include; Florida Home Partnership, Habitat for Humanity, Plant City Housing Authority, Hillsborough Housing Finance Authority, and others. This housing fair is sponsored by Keystone Challenge Fund, The City of Plant City, and St. Mary’s Community Church. Bible study is every Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
Don’t forget, that as a service to our community and a component of our Church Outreach, we serve free breakfast every Sunday at 8:00 am, and free lunch every Wednesday at 11:00 am.
We pray that God will help us see the tasks in our Scripture today as our service in a broken world, that we may see ourselves as God’s coworkers so that righteousness and praise may “spring forth before all nations.”
