During the last month, St. Mary’s Community Church has continued to strive for an inclusive, productive, caring, and loving community by practicing and applying God’s principles, as we maintain that “we can only bring change to the extent that we let God change us.”

St. Mary’s annual “Great Event Banquet” was held on Saturday, October 27, and as usual was “THE” event of the year for the Church. Each year, the Great Event Banquet culminates the year’s fundraising efforts that pay for all our outreach programs, including free meals, tutoring, free transportation for the needed, and other free programs and events sponsored by St. Mary’s Community Church in partnership with the City of Plant City and other entities.

Feeding the hungry has been a staple of this church forever, and on every Wednesday and most Sundays, these three ladies are the face of St. Mary’s to the many people that come through our doors for a free meal. Church members, Mother Nancy Richardson and Sister Bettye Goodwine, and a nonmember volunteer, Mrs. Myrna Edwards volunteer their time week after week to ensure that any one in need of a hot and wholesome meal has access to one.

The church’s annex continues to act as the training site for the Plant City Wrestling Club until the official season begin later this month. Coach, as Pastor Knighten is known to his wrestlers, along with his assistant, Coach Houston, has been conducting rigorous workouts several days a week since a summer camp back in July, and the wrestlers seem eager for the season to begin.
